The Selenites Band is a French Ethio-jazz collective that draws inspiration from the groovy Ethiopian music of the 60s and 70s.
They play tribal jazz with free improvisations and explore the traditional scales of Ethiopian music.
Through their three albums released between 2019 and 2024, they expand their repertoire with modern Ethio-jazz compositions infused with Afro-jazz, psychedelic, and Kraütrock influences.
Their live performances are marked by their unique energy and mystical atmosphere that transports the audience to the clubs of “Swinging Addis”.
The band, consisting of Nic “Overdub” Dubuc on guitar, Marc “The Knife” Buvry on baritone sax, Obi Riddim on flute and modular synth, Julien “Gus” Guyard on percussion, Julien “The French” Paris on drums, and Lee Roy on bass, creates a contagious groove that encourages trance and dancing.
Since 2019, they have performed at renowned venues and festivals in Europe and France such as New Morning, as well as being opening acts for international artists like Orchestre National de Barbès, Aquaserge, Acid Arab, GONG!
